Flipping, popping and locking

True originality is the rarest of things! I sometimes fell like we live in a world where absolutely everything has been done before!

And to see this guy dance so uniquely left me super emotional! I love watching this type of talent shows but I have never in my life seen anything like he’s doing.  I’ve watched his routine a hundred times and it gives me goosebumps every single time.

I personally consider this to be out of this world special and touching. Pure, raw, gut-wrenching emotion! Hampton Williams, "The Exorcist” is a brilliant artist and so humble about his extraordinary talent!  You have to watch it!

Two others guys that I thought were impressive! As you can see hip hop moves (and weird variations on this style) really  float my boat!

Shafeek Westbrook makes it seem so easy, he’s doing this superhuman moves so effortlessly it’s almost unreal! Dude is going places!

Hang in there through the cheesy introductions till the actual routine of Stepheon Stewart – it’s good stuff and kind of scary in the best way possible!

Summer incantations

It’s been raining so much lately, you would believe it’s the monsoon season here in Romania! I can hardly believe it’s actually summer! I dream of being able to wear cute breezy clothes and not carrying my umbrella everywhere! So here am I with some wishful thinking outfits I would love to wear!

Which one do you like best?

Sky High Spiked Heels

How do you like my new studded pumps?! I just got them and I’m in love. They are the perfect pair of heels for a spike freak such as myself. At this point in my life I would take two of anything studded or spiked! You can call it a mid twenties life crises! I do!:)

And you don’t want to know how tall I am wearing them! Let’s just say that in order to have a boyfriend taller than me the only option would be dating into the NBA! Obviously I won’t let that stop me! Rain wasn’t able to stand in my way - I had to take them for a little spin around town and I have to say they are pretty comfortable for being the tallest shoes I own (by a long run)!

I felt they deserved to be paired with one great dress so I decided to wear this vintage fuchsia number that I adore. A special pair of shoes calls for great everything else. The big earrings and the pretty bracelet are from Jewelry Box and they are really lovely!

Thank you so much for all the nice things you said to me in my last post – it means a lot!

I’m wearing:
dress / rochie - vintage
shoes/ pantofi - random brand
bag/geanta - Debenhams
jacket/ geaca piele - H&M
bracelet, earrings/bratara, cercei - Jewelry Box

Total Eclipse of the Heart

I thought a lot about writing this post or not! I thought this was so unlike the easy going and happy vibes this blog is all about and that I don’t need to bother my readers with my problems!
Still I just can’t keep on going here as if nothing ever happened!
Because this is also my life and unfortunately it's not always about pretty clothes, good times and parties!

These past two weeks were the saddest in my entire life! My grandfather passed away and even if I was somehow ready for it because he had been sick for a while it was heartbreaking!
He meant everything to me and I will always love him with all my heart! I can’t honestly imagine my childhood without him watching over me and my sister and most of my happy memories include him!
He was always there and I prayed he would live forever! He didn’t and it’s hard to breathe every time I remember I will never see him light up every time we’d go visit, that I will never be able to hug him and talk to him.
I just hope he can rest in peace after so much suffering and he can see how loved he was and how much he will be missed.
I want to believe I can be at least half as amazing as he, one of my heroes, was!

And then, when I thought nothing can’t hurt as bad, one of my childhood friends back home died as well. He was so young; I’m actually still hoping this news is a horrible nightmare. I don't want to accept the immensity of this loss!
I had a dream childhood spent at my grandparents’ house in the country side full of friends my age and adventures many of the nowadays kids only read in books.
He was one of the friends I played with so many times as a child and spoke with as a teenager and I can’t believe life has been so unfair with him! I have no words to express the sorrow I fell for him, his sister and family. I wish I could do something for them, something to ease their suffering!

I can’t believe life can go on without him in the world! It feels like life should stop and the world should come to an end!
I feel so guilty for being able to do the things I always did, smile and hope for better days!
I’m absolutely stunned this happened; I regret not talking to him for so long – I never imagined this could ever happen – I thought we had all the time in the world to share stories and laugh as we did so many summers. All the memories he left behind are just not enough!
I hope Adi knows how much he meant for all of us and how much it hurts now! It always will, really!

And the fact that I will live and laugh and try to be as happy as possible and do as many wonderful things as I can doesn’t mean I won’t be thinking about them forever!
Nothing will ever be the same again!

Young Queen Elisabeth II & The end of an era

I wrote this article ten years ago and I think its only right to update and republish it today when Queen Elizabeth II, the UK's and in fact the oldest head of state, has passed away on September 8, 2022 at age 96 at Balmoral (her Scottish estate where she spend much of the summer) after reigning for an astonishing 70 years.

Her health was not that good but she still found the strength to appoint Liz Truss as the new prim-minister of UK two days before her death proving once again she was someone that devoted her life and energy to her people and nation.

“I have to be seen to be believed.”
Queen Elizabeth II

Just keep in mind the below text was written a decade ago:

I just finished watching this three part documentary called “The Diamond Queen” that  I initially thought (based only on the title) was a science fiction short story about aliens living on a diamond planet in a galaxy far, far away and their fearless leader and queen. Logical assumption or so I thought!!!

Well it proved to be an “inside” piece about Queen Elizabeth II and her 70 years long reign! Still, I kept on watching and realized … she was actually young once. I knew that rationally but as she was quite old for most of my existence on earth I kind of forgot that.
In fact Elisabeth was crowned after the death of her father King George VI, when she was only 25 (in 1953). Can you imagine that?!

I’m a few years older and I’m barely able to take care of myself! I can’t even commit to a pet! Forget about being in your twenties and having such a powerful sense of duty and being able to take on such a lifelong commitment (and it was just after the Second World War too)!

A few facts I learned about young Elisabeth:
  • She and her sister were home-schooled
  • When she was a little girl Her Majesty the Queen was known as Lilybet and even the media referred to her as "Princess Lilybet"
  • She meet her future husband (Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark) when she was 14 (1940) and they started writing letters to each other.
  • During the Second World War she wanted to help somehow and enrolled with the Women's Auxiliary Territorial Service where she worked as a driver and loved it
  • Her marrying Prince Philip in 1947 was pretty controversial and low key (her mother didn’t approve because some of his relatives were suspected of being Nazi supporters).  One year later she had her first child – Charles.Over the years she had three more kids.
Now, I live in a country that’s been a republic for 70 years and I’ve only read about the time Romania was a monarchy in history books but I still find it fascinating.

So you’ll understand why I looked up some photos with a young Elisabeth to see for myself and to share with all of you.

Wedges – a summer staple

I recently discovered the beauty of wedges so this is probably going to be a summer full of them. I’m just dipping my toes in the sea of possibilities! I've seen so many beautiful pairs I feel  a bit overwhelmed! But I would wear any of these babies! Hell, I want them all!:)

Why women love wedge shoes?
It is a well known truth that women love shoes. From five-inch stilettos to a pair of ultra-comfy flip-flops, knee-high boots to casual trainers, women love to browse around the shoe shops, looking to take home another pair to join the other 30, already dominating their wardrobe space. I think wedges are a summer staple because they are so laid back, effortlessly cool, pretty and practical. No wonder women can’t resist them.

Add height
Unlike stilettos, platforms and high heels in general, wedge shoes are deceptively high. Not only does wearing a pair make us appear significantly taller – a desirable trait for most – they’re also easy to walk in. You won’t have to totter along, unnaturally and comically in a pair of five-inch stilettos that didn’t quite master walking in. With wedges, your feet are just as elevated in the air but remain at the same level – no balance or skill involved. This means you can walk naturally and comfortably down the road without running the risk of breaking your neck!

Versatile
Another reason why women love wedge shoes so much is because they are highly versatile. When worn with a pair of jeans, wedges look great and are fantastic for more casual occasions such as shopping or going to the cinema. When worn with a short dress or skirt, wedges make legs look longer and slimmer and are guaranteed to turn heads on a night out. Wedge shoes also look great when worn with a long dress, giving you extra height and a touch of glamour – perfect for a dinner party or more formal occasions.

Summertime is here!
Wedge shoes are one of those items in your wardrobe that are synonymous with summer. And because of this, it’s hard not to love them. Shoved to the back of the wardrobe for eight months of the year, wedges make a genuine comeback as soon as the weather begins to warm up. Summer is here, and so are the short skirts and wedge shoes. Let the fun begin

So, how do you feel about wedges?

Animal print dress goes green

As you can see from the weird light in these pictures, I haven’t yet mastered the art of photography! However, what I’m starting to do quite effortlessly is pose awkwardly in the center of Bucharest as if it were the most natural thing in the world. I’m not even blinking at all the people passing by and saying stuff.
The bitches can say whatever as long as they don’t stand in my frame and just move on!:)))))))

I just felt the need to confess that in case my animal print dress doesn’t make enough of a statement regarding how fierce I really am:)))). And yes, the cool top I’m wearing it's actually a dress (see it here worn as she was meant to), but I cannot wear as such at work because of it being too short for boring formal occasions. Still, I love it with my vintage lace skirt and green statement necklace for a bit of a color contrast.

I’m wearing:
dress worn as a shirt/ rochie purtata  ca top - Romwe
  bag/geanta - Marks&Spencer
belt/ fusta- vintage
necklace/colier - Zara
sunglasses/ ochelari  - Asos
shoes, bracelet/ pantofi, bratara - random brand
