Event: Bucharest Style Anniversary party

It's Sunday night but I'm somehow exhausted so I'm going to brief - here are a few photos from Tuesday night when I attended Bucharest Style 3 years anniversary.

It was a very fun night although I didn't stay for the after-party  cause, you know, I had to go to work the next day. Also clubs are not really my scene and I need my beauty sleep (old lady in the house:)))).

I wore a sequin dress layered under a leather jacket topped with a black ruffled cardigan and biker boots. I also had on a flower tiara with a birdcage veil that me and my sister made just two hours before the event. It's good to wear a crown from time to time - it reminds people you're actually royalty !:))))))

Not afraid of a little bit of PDA- especially if Anna is involved!
Me and Maria smiling for the camera!

Game of Thrones - season 3 teasers

Winter is coming on March 31st.

Are you guys as excited as I am about the new Games of Thrones season 3 premiere? We only have a few more days to wait: March 31st is the magic date.

Even thought I have read all the books, I’m still crazy about the series. The truth is that HBO did an amazing job with it.

The new season will cover half of A Storm of Swords, the third novel in Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire saga and the second half of the book will be covered in season four. I really hope the show will be picked up for next year as that didn’t happen just yet, but I’m sure it will.

Ain't that the truth? Ygritte, you're a true poetess:))))
 The scenery  is always breathtaking!
So many things happened in Game of Thrones season 1 and 2: betrayal after betrayal, characters hating each other, blood, dragons, love, war, intrigue  and the always shocking end of the season, so it’s not crazy to assume that we will get some much expected payoff time now.

If you are a hardcore fan of Game of Thrones (like yours truly), you have to check out the The King's Roadmap that some very cool guys built recently - it's interactive and will be updated every week to keep up with the new episodes.

This third season was shot in five different countries, with many production teams working simultaneously. Besides Dubrovnik, Croatia, other filming locations included Morocco, Iceland - on the Vatnajökull glacier and Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Another highlight is the Game of Thrones season 3 casting and the fact that new characters will appear: Clive Russell as Bryndon "The Blackfish" Tully, Ciarán Hinds (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy) as Mance Rayder, the fearsome King Beyond the Wall, Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Jojen Reed, the burning sword-wielding Baeric Dondarrion (Richard Dormer), slave-turned-handmaiden Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel) and Diane Rigg as Lady Olenna Tyrell, "The Queen of Thorns."

HBO is taunting us for days now with a bunch of amazing new Game of Thrones season 3 trailers and after seeing them I have to say: “HBO, don’t worry, we are still interested in what you are offering!”.

Also the released photos for the new season got me really excited! Did you see Daenerys with her army? Awesome, right?

And Joffrey, put down the freaking crossbow, you are an idiot and you will only hurt yourself with it (fingers crossed)!!! Why don’t you die already?

Sansa is looking more beautiful every day, I didn't see it at first but Sophie Turner is really stunning in this coming season!

And, George R. R. Martin, please don’t even think about doing what you said you are planning to do in the Game of Thrones at the San Diego’s Comic-Con: “I may have to start killing some of these characters to make room for new ones.” If you even touch Jon, Aria, Tyrion or Dany, I will never ever forgive you!

That being said, I’m not that worried as the show is following the books pretty accurately so far and all my “no, you didn’t” moments have been already rehearsed. I basically know everything that will happen, but I still love to watch how they bring the story to life!

Besides, I’m sure that we can now rest assured Martin will never kill my favorite characters, I just publicly warned him! He would never diss me like that!

Let the games begin!
Are you a fan? Are you watching the Game of Thrones TV show? Have you read the "A song of Ice and Fire" saga yet? I personally think it's one of the best fantasy series ever written (and I should know - I've read them all)!

Outfit – roses and fur

This dress is the latest addition to my dirndl style frock collection and I might have just worn it one too many times over the past month. It’s what I do: when I like something I tend to wear that thing for weeks much to my sister’s chagrin.

But even she has too admit the dress it’s super cute with its bright red and green rose print and flattering silhouette – it just makes me feel good and comfortable.

The brown leather jacket with the fur collar is something I actually bought in high school and one of the few things I stand by even today. Can’t help but think about the fact I was probably 17 years old when I got it – pretty fancy of me, right? I was very much into Russian literature back then so that might had something to do with it!

And then we have the burgundy coat which is of more recent decent – you might remember the first time I made the introductions!

I’m having an interesting time lately to say the least, new plans and projects are being put into motion, not going to say anything yet but hopefully I can tell you more soon.

  I’m wearing:
dress, bag / rochie, geanta - vintage
burgundy coat / palton visiniu - New Look
fur jacket / jacheta guler blana - random brand
crystal earrings / cercei  - Asos
ring, bracelet / inel, bratara  - random brand
ankle boots / ghete - random brand

Illustration spotlight – Fab Ciraolo

We live in a world were everything is possible and we are permanently surrounded by things that leave us speechless. Or at least that’s the case with me. I see so many talented people in a variety of areas - dancing, singing, acting, painting - and talent is something I appreciate with all my heart.

And as wonderful as it is seeing all of the magic that they can create, it’s even harder to have your own thing, that special talent that separates you from the crowd, making people recognize your work. It’s the ability to choose from all the subjects out there and find the one that defines you as an artist. And today we’re talking about such an artist - one that has found his niche and made it art.

Fab Ciraolo is a Chilean-born illustrator that takes pop icons, superheroes, cartoon characters and even historical ones and illustrates them with a modern twist. He also ads a fashionable angle as he changes their outfits but keeps, at the same time, a vintage vibe. He uses subdued colors and psychedelic backgrounds to create the impression of space.

His technique involves “painting, a lot of drawing, acrylics, color pencils, mostly anything I have near that might work to get a final result that makes me happy. I can remember using coffee in some paintings.”

Judy Garland and Marilyn Monroe as modern day stereotypes
This is brilliant: Coco Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld in the Pietà pose!
Old school heroes

And even though this has been done before, in the sense that he is not the only one to bring into his work famous people from the past, he does it in an original way. Fab Ciraolo remains fluent in his work by keeping his signature “space” background and changes only his subjects. He creates this amazing mash ups, putting together elements from pop culture, science fiction and just a hint of wired.

While his characters still have their signature styles he transforms them into present day stars. They are somehow reborn into the hipsters and rock stars of our days.  There’s a lot of irony there, mixed in with humor and even a bit of social commentary - Fab Ciraolo’s work is provocative! Pop culture is his playground and I love it all!

Edward Scissorhands and  Charlie Chaplin
Alfred Hitchcock
Salvador Dalí  and Frida Kahlo
What do you think? I would very much like to have  any of these hanging in my house!

Event – BSB spring summer 2013 collection launch

A couple of days ago, last Wednesday to be more precise, I attended the press day brunch for the launch of BSB’s newest collection at their store in the heart of Bucharest.

The comfortable silhouettes, the chic and fun dresses, all the little details on tops, a more sophisticated approach to light outwear pieces (beautiful lace cardigans and fringed leather jackets) make these BSB clothes appealing for more age groups which is a great thing for any retailer.

Their  spring-summer  collection has a lot of elements that I really liked: the balanced color scheme featuring shades of green, ivory tangerine and blue, the mix of fabrics with crochet lace, leather and soft jersey at the core, the feminine mix of urban influences and more rustic, natural elements. I feel they successfully targeted a larger audience by offering more variety.

I absolutely loved these dresses made using a lovely combination of mint veil for the skirt part and knitted lace for the top.

As for my outfit I wore a short dress with an ombre style animal print that you have seen before (granted it looked different then, but I’m sure you remember). I also had a pair of glittery pumps on that I will admit I changed in just before the event (I had to make an escape from work where shiny shoes are frowned upon to make it to this event). Please excuse my hair; it’s having a bad month all together! :)

 I’m wearing:
dress / rochie - Romwe
  bag/geanta - Marks&Spencer
leather jacket, glitter shoes/ geaca piele, pantofi - H&M
bag /geanta - Zara
double rings/ inele duble  - Miss Selfridge and Meli Melo
necklace/ colier - random brand
