Decor ideas – white furniture

When you think about it, we all spend a lot of our lives in our houses. That’s why my future apartment has to be a place to call my own - a creative environment for my dreams, a refuge from the world. It used to be a far away project, but it’s in my reach now so I’m actually experiencing a pre-decorating frenzy in anticipation of the moment.

The thing I really like right now is white furniture. It did occur to me it’s quite unpractical for couches and armchairs – they would probably get dirty very fast and changing the upholstery from time to time seems like a costly nightmare. Other than the practical reasoning, I’m in love with the idea of a white room with colorful details all over. Wren Living does some wonderful white and ivory wardrobes with a retro vibe that would solve my many storage problems and look amazing in the process. And to top it of, they can custom make all the furniture to fit your space perfectly.

I can’t stop day dreaming about an all ivory walk in closet with tones of cupboards and cabinets for all my clothes, shoes and jewelry. Just imagine how beautiful the white would look with all the colorful clothes inside carefully organized according to season and shade! Yes, I’m a bit of a nutcase when it comes to sorting and depositing my things, I love to do it – it’s my own kind of porn.

Choosing white furniture leaves you a lot of room (pun intended) to play with the smaller decorative elements that give personality to a space: curtains, pillows, lamps, rugs, blankets, sheets, art objects. Versatility is important since I get bored easily. That's why a base that's easy to change up by adding small elements to the original furniture is something I'm already thinking about.

Home decor – funky and modern

I 've always imagined that if I were to live in New York (which is a dream of mine) I would also have a super cool apartment/loft in an artsy area like Soho or Williamsburg that I would decorate in a very specific way.

Aren’t you just dying to know how my imaginary place in New York would look like? I know you do so I have some visual aids prepared. I wouldn't let you guys hanging!

I’m thinking: colorful, funky and fresh, with large pieces of art on the walls, pillows everywhere and interesting furniture - a mix of bohemian and modern, super realxed and comfortable!

And because we’re on the realm of wishes, I wouldn’t mind a lot of light and a steamy love affair with Charlie Hunnam or Gaspard Ulliel.:)))))

The perfect white space, full of art and color!
I love the transparent ceiling and the light color palette!
The "library" wallpaper and the electric blue chairs are beyond amazing!
I'm really into these exposed beams and curved wood chairs!
The huge painting over the bed makes this room so special!
Oh, the white floors and colorful pillows on the sofa - they are so cute!
How about a funky mural and retro yellow lamps over the kitchen table!?
I need animal printed pillows and suspended paper lamps in my life!!!

What do you think? Would you come visit?

The Vanity Table

If I stop to think about how many things I want in my dream house I end up realizing it should be as large as castle, but somewhere central, if you know what I mean. Cause if we are to dream, let’s at least dream big!

Besides alcove beds, a round stair library, breakfast nooks, indoor swings, colorful walls, decadent chandeliers hanging everywhere I’m really, really obsessed with having a vanity table.
I bet that’s really shocking coming from a fashion blogger, the more modest of the human beings, known for being shy and reserved, not so keen on attention!:)))

And I’m not talking about a table with a small mirror and a chair, I’m thinking of a grand, indulging, slightly excessive, preferably vintage vanity table.
Yes, I’m basically describing a shrine, but less creepy because instead of photos with Charlie Hunnam, love potions and candles we’re just talking about bottles of perfume, make up and scattered jewelry. Inoffensive stuff!

Something to make you feel like Old Hollywood royalty – a bit of an altar for you narcissistic side! :))) When it comes to vanity tables I’m thinking what would Rita Heyworth, Ava Gardner or Elisabeth Taylor do? Maybe I should consider a powder room - a vanity mirror seems suddenly insufficient!
I have no budget to worry about - dreaming is for free so! :)))

Here you have some visuals in case I’m not painting a picture vivid enough!

The soft blue and gold mix in this vintage vanity tables gives an aristocratic vibe I very much approve of!
The appropriate amount of girly things a vanity mirror should be covered in!
Absolutely stunning vintage vanity mirrors with elaborate details!
The flying, angel wings teddy bear could be a bit much - who am I kidding? I'm feeling it, I need one just like that!
Now we're talking - a vase bearing Cupid it's a must on this exquisite, blue, vintage vanity table! You just have to have at least one!
How about some vintage French style cream and gold vanity tables? Yes, please!

Do you feel your life is complete without one of these? Really? Think about it!

The breakfast nook

I’m not going to lie – I eat most of my meals in front of my computer or in bed watching a movie or a TV show. A bad habit, I know, but it’s the God’s honest true!

That being said I would never do it if I actually had a nice, small, sunny place to eat instead! I’m in dear need of a charming breakfast nook: an inviting and cozy corner with lots of natural light specially designed for serving meals. I would love a comfortable bench with a small white table and a few chairs all in lovely pastels or stripes to eat while reading the morning papers.

This is what I had in mind – aren’t all these ideas just lovely?
As you can see I’m also a bit obsessed with having a vase of fresh flowers in the middle of the table, it just looks so wonderful.

Who knew delicate pastels would work so great with a dark floor and round table?!
Can you see what I'm  talking about with all the pretty flowers?
How amazing is this all white corner of paradise?!
How about a vintage finish for the table and chairs? Yes, please!!!
I love the awesome chandelier hanging over the white breakfast nook!
Oh!!! Those beautiful tulips are really something!
Stripes and peonies - a match made in heaven!

Not that I need and incentive to eat, but, hey, aren't these ideas for a breakfast nook perfect?

Home decor – the spring look

If you’re a lover of this season like me than you probably want your home to look like spring all year long.

Besides being extremely beautiful a “spring” themed space is also an excellent mood lifter. The great thing about home decor is that you can actually achieve that – your house can be that warm, solar refuge against everything stressful and unpleasant.

Here are some small tips I can give you if you’re into spring-ing things up:
  • Don’t be shy about adding lots of plants and flowers everywhere; they give a fresh and cheerful vibe to any room
  • A pastel and white color scheme is just what you’re looking for. I find aqua blues, soft greens and yellows to be amazing colors for such an endeavor. When it comes to walls - white will surely brighten things up – I would also use pastels for trims, doors, furniture, even one of the walls (as a joyful accent).
  • Pretty floral or gingham prints for pillows, chairs, curtains (even the wallpaper) will complete the spring look
  • We’re going for a clean, light and refreshing space so I would suggest getting rid of any furniture that’s not really necessary and just clutters the space.
How beautiful is this bedroom? I adore the blue wood wall and the painting on it - the white tree with small, colorful birds!
How about a yellow and white gingham print chair?! Yes please!
Floral touches and shades of green! How warm and relaxing!
An airy white blanket and a pink roses near the bed - so lovely!
Turquoise cupboards, flowers and yellow walls in the kitchen!
Is a spring look something you'd go for in your house?

Decor ideas – white fur accents

I always thought a fur rug or a fur blanket (I’m totally talking faux fur here) can give a room a warm and comfortable feel especially during the cold season.

Just imagine staying in a chair draped with such a blanket on a cold winter day! I imagine it feels like a hug! Besides such a detail is very modern and pulls a space out of the ordinary.

White fur looks amazing when used against dark or powerful colors, the contrast is just beautiful. Still the white on white variant is also something to be considered if a light and airy space is what you’re looking for.

See what I'm talking about? White fur on navy - and that fabulous wood table! Looks amazing!
This chair is calling my name!
I love this rug against the dark floor! Simple but effective!
As far as work places goes this fury chair would be a dream! Your behind would be so grateful!:)))))

What do you think?
