I have to say I was pretty disappointed with New York Fashion Week this year! I’m usually drooling over several collections, but this time I only really liked 3 of them as a whole (Michael Kors, Rag&Bone and J.Mendel) and several looks here and there (from Rodarte, Altuzarra and BCBG by Max Azria).
My favorite collection was the one put together by Marcus Wainwright and David Neville for Rag&Bone. This fall collection is really a lesson in layering.
The two designers created modern and masterfully tailored pieces that look really cool together. I love the play on lengths and volumes, the dark palette and eclectic prints they used with little hints of color.
The androgynous outwear is truly exceptional: the sharp jackets, the long asymmetrical coats, the short leather vests - they all look impeccable and fresh.

I’m also digging the tapered pants, the gloves, the tulip or pointy shaped skirts, the hoods and the general ultra polished sporty feel of it all. I would so wear everything!
So, what do you think?

I share your discontent with fashion week. I was particularly shocked with the amount of black I've seen in 95% of the shows! I kinda got used to a luxuriant cocktail of color, as we've had for the past 3- almost 4 seasons, but now I'm guessing that black will be reinstated as the 'color' of the season (which is soo depressing). Still, there were quite a number of shows I almost loved: Preen and Marc Jacobs were, by far, my faves, and then there was Derek Lam, A Detacher, Vera Wang, Timo Weiland, Phillip Lim, Wang, Narciso Rodriguez and a dozen or two more:) I've been quite dissapointed by Rodarte (they're heading in a way too commercial direction, as opposed to the usual sublime fantasy they send on the runway) and Proenza (a bit too scruffy and unpolished, yet overall, they pulled off some great deconstruction and texture-play). But London FW looks far more promising to me! I'm a 'print' girl, so I'm in for the magic that comes via, say, basso& brooke or, even better, Mary Katrantzou!

I am with you, I thought NYFW was not all that. And then I shocked myself by liking Michael Kors, like hellooo, but I really liked what he had to offer almost bought me some MK ankleboots and then I really thought I had some kind a fever. And J Mendel I really liked too.
