Outwear Wishlist - a lover of coats

I’m going to be frank here. Among the few reason I like winter the layering factor and all the cute outwear I get to wear are key. I’m the girl that always thinks “Oh crap, not this shit again!” once faced with the winter wonderland everybody seems to love so much.

And I really, really don’t like winter at all. It’s uncomfortable and so cold you can’t get warm even if you wear a polar bear around your neck at all times. Not to mention the slippery factor – all that ice is a permanent accident waiting to happen. I would fast forward it entirely if possible.

 

The bright light at the end of the white, freezing tunnel is my long love affair with winter coats, jackets and wraps.

Despite the cold, I do enjoy getting to wear all my jackets, trenches and parkas as much as I want. I do find some small satisfaction in the fact that if I really have to freeze my ass off, I can, at least, do it in style.

Right about now I feel an itch to add some more outwear pieces to my collection and I start hunting to take the edge off.

First on my list is something sporty chic to either go with casual looks or contrast with really feminine outfits. I like a few models from Lole that I think would make everything better on my daily trips to work when all I can think of is: Why God, why me? 

 

 I would also really, really like to have something like this. Looks awesome!!!

 

I've also been looking for the perfect black and white geometrical print coat. Of course, the greatest find would be a long, bubblegum pink coat to sweeten the cold winter days.

But I do have to give winter credit this year: it didn’t snow yet, the temperature were kind of bearable and hopefully until it shows it’s true face again, because you know it will, I will manage to get my hands on some goodies to make the cold go away.

In the meantime, let’s hope for unnatural warm weather so I can go on living peacefully.

How to match your swimsuit with your body type and personality

Only the thought that’s always summer somewhere keeps me going right now. It’s been a slow progression, but, over the years, I’ve been hating winter more and more - to the point I would love to live somewhere warm all year long. Yes, I’m totally California dreaming right now.

I’m one of those people that wants to spend Christmas at the beach and go somewhere exotic for the holidays. I can hardly wait for summer and planning on going somewhere really cool. Not sure where, but the ocean is a must. 

So while everybody is writing about coats and boots, I’m already thinking about 2015 swimsuits. I have always have been a forward thinker! :)

I don’t know about you, but the process of trying on and finding the right swimsuits it’s really a terrifying thing. Many women dread it more than the zombie apocalypse or childbirth. It usually goes hand in hand with a Brazilian wax. Enough said!

The fact that there’s a lot to choose from out there is not helping either: hundreds of prints, cuts, shapes, no name and designer swimsuits, online shops or traditional stores, one pieces swimsuits, full body swimsuits and on and on. Very confusing stuff.

For me the key is to find something that suits both your personality and body shape. But if you have multiple personalities, like me, it’s going to be hard to stick to one style.

But let’s start with the right swimsuits for each silhouette.

1. Athletic build (Triangle shape)

Ok, so you’ve been working out and you look like a male Korean drama lead meets runway model. Please don’t take this as an insult – I’m very much into those (they are prettier than most girls) - nice shoulders and arms, narrower hips, nicely defined legs. 

You should totally show off by wearing revealing swimsuits with lots of feminine details, maybe some cool hip or straps embellishments. Go for low cut bottom pieces and tops with cups, ruffles, maybe some padding to soften your look and give the illusion of a larger chest. 

Don’t be afraid of wearing prints – they are your friend. Don’t punish the world by wearing one pieces – those abs deserve to be seen.

2. Curvy or hourglass body shape (defined waist with a generous bust and hips)

Firstly, congratulations for winning at the genetic lottery. You will look good in almost anything, but keep in mind that you need something to hold everything in place. A little support is always welcomed and balconette or halter style tops with underwire are the best for that. 

Look for pieces that have thicker straps and double-stitched bands as well – they’re going to be both comfortable and flattering. Cool one pieces will also look hot on you.

Specialists usually recommend going for solid or very small prints to avoid messing with your proportions, but I think you should go for what you like and feel that looks good on you. I would avoid anything with strings, unless you want a wardrobe malfunction – the beach edition - happening to you.   

 

3. Pear shaped body

You’re lower half might be winder than your top half, but you can still rock a swimsuit like it’s nobody’s business. Choosing the right bottom is the most important thing here: go for full coverage or high waisted boy shorts or hipsters, even briefs. 

The top should be something attention grabbing to balance things out – low cut, interesting details and molded cups are the answer. I would definitely go for one of those two pieces with a solid colored bottom and a printed top.

Think along these lines: go wild on top and remain modest in the bottom area. It sounds a lot dirtier than intended, but you get my point. One piece swimsuits with interesting upper cuts and details are also a great idea.

4. Straight build

You’re the envy of every teenage girl in the world, not many curves to talk about, but nothing to hide either. Your photos are probably all over Tumbler by now. You can go as skimpy as you like without looking vulgar. 

Just know that any kind of gathering details, prints, padding and ruffles will enhance your existing curves. String bikinis have been made for you, so don’t be afraid to get some of those.

Say my name

Fashion blogging is a uniquely narcissistic endeavor that I enjoy a lot, but don’t take all the serious. I do realize I’m not saving lives here so I’m trying to have fun with it. It’s about appreciating the little moments of joy that come with dressing up, wearing beautiful jewelry and accessories and feeling good in your own skin.

All of that being said, you won’t be surprised I’m super excited to finally have a name necklace of my own. I won’t bore you with the Sex and the City references, but rather skip on to showing it to you. It was sent to me by Onecklace and it’s better than I expected: dainty, gold plated and customized to my specifications. 

 

They can do pretty much anything you want: names, small quotes, initials, even add colorful stones. And something very important - it arrived pretty fast for an overseas order! 

I’m actually a bit bummed I wasn’t more creative with it – I really want more of these (I have lots of funny ideas now that I got the taste), in fact I’m dying for a double ring branded #PopCulture or something similar.

Besides being super cute, the name necklace also doubles as a conversation starter! Random people will ask you if that’s your name and many other things after that! Talking about things that speak about you without saying anything!:)))

Cristhelen B. by Musette spring-summer 2014

When I woke up last Thursday and saw the rain and the gloomy clouds outside, I thought for sure the day was going to be ruined, especially since I couldn’t wear my new pair of heels. These are the true tragedies in life! :)))  Finally I settled for another pair and  I was on my way.

I did had a moment of panic when I realized that I only had a short window  of time between my two jobs to also go to the Musette showroom to see the new S/S 2014 collection!

 

Not wanting to be late for work, I had to go to the showroom at the exact moment they opened the doors. At first I thought, OMG I can’t believe it, I’m the first one here, what I’m I going to do all alone? As it turns out it was actually really fun to be the first, I had the place all to myself and everyone there was so nice and welcoming! I got to talk with Cristina Batlan who’s the brand creator – she was super nice and took the time to explain to me the inspiration behind the collection – from Roman times to African tribes, you can travel the world one pair of shoes at a time. 

She showed me around and was extremely gracious about everything. She was kind enough to take me to the Depot 96 showroom which is in the same building, one floor up! You guys have to go visit because you won’t regret it. Both brands have huge spaces here (Splaiul Unirii, nr. 96), and you can be sure you'll find some amazing things! I also got to meet Laura Luca (super nice as well), so yeah, the visit at Musette made my day!

On top of that, some of the Cristhelen B. shoes made my heart skip a beat! I especially adored the sandals – they had this exotic vibe that really put me in a summer adventure mood. I absolutely loved the wedges with the architectural heel, as well as the brilliantly colored stilettos. 

I liked that the materials weren’t always leather, some pieces are a mix of different fabrics and prints that give them an extra bit of cool! The summer pumps were also a hit with me – rich colors and elegant cuts make for a great combo. The color palette is spot on and so fun: from vibrant green to red, yellow, orange, gold, metallic and holographic prints, they all looked incredible! The bags were just how I like them: sharp silhouettes, solid colors or funky prints and the right sizes too – not too big but big enough to hold all my things! 

Joia trecuta am avut placerea sa particip la lansarea noii colectii Musette. Din cauza job-ului am fost nevoita sa ajung la eveniment  foarte devreme. Atat de devreme, incat am fost prima persoana de acolo, in afara de organizatori. N-am regretat insa pentru ca-i genial sa ai tot showroom-ul la dispozitie. In plus, am avut ocazia sa vorbesc mai mult cu Cristina Batlan, creatoarea bradului, care a fost extrem de draguta si mi-a povestit despre colectie, surse de inspiratie si  materialele folosite. 

Colectia contine de la sandale gladiator de inspiratie romana pana la pantofi creati cu gandul la triburile africane. Piesele sunt suficient de variate incat  sa fie pe gustul unei audiente largi, cu varste si stiluri de viata diferite.

Am fost placut impresionata de paleta cromatica vibranta si materiale: verde intens, rosu, galben, portocaliu, printuri holografice, auriu si argintiu, imprimeuri artistice, piele si impletituri in combinatii exotice si versatile.

 

Sandalele au fost preferatele mele, dar nu as spune nu nici catorva perechi de stilettos. Colectia include atat piese basic, usor de purtat cu aproape orice: balerini cu funde si barete, pantofi de inspiratie masculina, sandale si pantofi cu toc gros, de inaltime medie, pana la piese spectaculoase: stilettos intens colorati cu decupaje delicate, saboti cu printuri artistice, sandale si platforme cu tocuri arhitecturale si combinatii indraznete de culori si materiale. Gentile au fost o alta surpriza placuta: dimensiuni bine gandite, culori vesele si forme moderne. Tot ce pot spune este ca noua colectie Musette nu dezamageste!

Am ramas cu gandul la multe dintre piesele din colectie – ramane de vazut care sunt cele fara de care nu pot sa traiesc.

Am avut de asemenea ocazia sa merg sa vizitez showroomul Depot 96, care este in aceeasi cladire din Splaiul Unirii nr. 96. Va recomand sa mergeti la ambele magazine de aici, spatiul este generos si exista o mare varietate de produse, deci sansele sa gasiti ceva cu adevarat superb, sunt extrem de mari!
