Blog Spotlight - Niotillfem

As uneventful as my life can be sometimes, I have rarely wished to be someone else, but I do wish I could live some people' life sometimes (just for a little while though). And, man, I wish I could switch places with Sandra from Niotillfem for a week (I’m not sure she would agree as she’d get the short end of the stick with this one).

I’m reading her blog for years (almost 6 – she started writing in 2005) and Niotillfem is one of the first blogs I’ve ever read and I still consider it to be one of my favorites.

The first 2 or 3 years I was just looking at the photos and imagining what the texts were about, filling in the blanks as I “read” a new post; she wrote (and still does) mainly in Swedish, only now she makes a short English resume of the text and you can also choose to translate the blog with Google translate.

The reason I love this blog is because it's not so much about fashion, but more about living and love and friends and books and music and food and picnics and trips, Sweden and New York.

I feel like I know this girl (I’m being totally weird but in a non stalkery way I promise – she has too much of myself in her to build her a shrine :)))).

Her blog is in fact a dairy of her life in a more real and authentic way than most, she talks about happiness and joy and bliss, but also about heartbreak and sadness and getting through the day.

I’m also pretty sure hear original Swedish texts are amazing, they have to be because I can feel that even with Google translate (it’s pretty hard for something to sound halfway decent and touching even when a program automatically transforms a post from Swedish to English).

So Sandra is 27 and she works as a copywriter, she used to live in Sweden until last year when she decided to move to New York as she felt she wouldn’t survive another Nordic winter. And she actually did move to New York (in October I think) which is amazing, she just did everything in her power to make it happen, looked for a job, found one with her friend Nina (they still work together as a creative team in an advertising agency - copywriter and art director), got the USA visa and now she’s living the dream.

The only bad part is that her boyfriend (Ludvig) and her are not together all the time (from what I can gather and can see on her blog, these two have an epic love story going on and are absolutely adorable together, it’s sickening really:)))). He lives in L.A right now, she lives in New York but they make it work somehow.

The thing is she doesn’t have everything figured out, she has insecurities, she doesn’t think about herself as being perfect, but she does fight to be happy and she goes for what she wants which is everything any of us can and should do.

You’ll see a lot of amazing pictures on her blog, an impressive number of friends (her blog is as much about her as about her friends), parties and adventures, trips, nights out and good looking people and food.

When it comes to fashion she has a very clear style, I don’t think I've ever seen her steering away from it. It’s very specific, a retro and endearing mix of sailor pin up and Lolita elements - always feminine, high waisted and sweet. I love it but I would never be able to commit to just one style.

When you read a blog for such a long time you end up knowing a scary amount of things about a person (especially when you have a memory like me when it comes to non essential stuff).

That being said, I feel this is enough, I’ll leave you with the pictures and I promise you’re gonna love her and the blog, the archives are amazing.

This article is my way of apologizing for the hundreds of times I read her blog and never left a comment of how much I like it!:)

Isn't she fabulous?

Blog spotlight – This Fellow (Bobby)

Don’t be fooled, guys, Bobby’s certainly not just a regular fellow. Yes, it’s true, I find him unbearably cute:), but this is not why he’s in the spotlight today. He just seems such a genuinely nice person, which is a rare commodity these days.

I love bloggers that are able to show us inspirational outfit pictures but also have something else to say besides fashion. You just can’t beat a cute boy that also happens to have a way with words (or a cute boy that sings really good but that’s besides the point). You probably know his girlfriend’s blog - Keiko Lynn – she’s awesome as well, a very cool, beautiful and smart girl. If you don’t read his blog, you’ve probably seen him on her blog, she sometimes uploads the sweetest pictures of them two.

He lives in New York and loves it, but I think he’s originally from Florida.
This Fellow is a blog a about his life, work, clothes and food. He might look like he’s in a band with the whole messy hair, beautiful tattoos and tight pants, but he’s  actually a professional cook and bartender at one of the best  houses in Manhattan  - SoHo House.
From what I can see on his blog he works a lot and he’s  very passionate about what he does and I’m a big fan of that. He wasn’t classically trained as a cook, never really went to school for that and instead worked his ass of and learned everything from just observing and being very persistent:
I remembered that one year ago, today, I was working as a Room Service Attendant that took his spare time to learn to cook in a professional kitchen, without pay”
That’s how he worked his way up from Room Service Attendant to barback to bartender and then professional cook – really hard work, crazy hours and dedication.
I guess he sais it all right here:
“I work hard - harder than most people I know, but certainly not harder than others I’ve met - but I’ll work as hard as I can until I’m numb and in a chair because that’s the way I am, the man I’ve become and that’s why I’ve been given a single one of these opportunities.  If I even had a New Year’s resolution, I’d have to say that I could only dream a little more, go farther and do it with Keiko, because if it weren’t for her, I’d be a lesser man.  It’s because of her that I am the way I am, though she’ll never admit it.  This will be my year.  This will be our year.  All we have to do is want it more than we did last year.  Ya dig?”.
Don’t you find these words of his super inspiring? I sure do!

Best Lloyd Dobler since John Cusack:)))))))

And he’s all that and does everything he does looking as hot as he does: a personal mix of classic, retro and modern clothes worn with the most natural and sincere smile I’ve ever seen.
I can only hope all of you, dear readers, have already found or will eventually find your own Bobby. In the meantime you can read his blog and maybe attempt to cook one of the many awesome recipes he shares with the world.

The Face Hunter in Bucharest

As you may probably know (or not know) this weekend The Face Hunter (Yvan Rodic) is coming to Bucharest, in fact he’s here right now so if you’re wondering the streets of the city dressed to the nines (…or almost naked:)))))  be prepared to strike a pose.

Tomorrow and Sunday (25 si 26 septembrie) he will be attending Absolutely Fabulous Fashion&Vintage fair (restaurantul  La Blanca, Calea Dorobantilor Nr.18, intre orele 11:00 -19:00, langa British Council).  My dear sister, Alice, will also be there Sunday with our line of handmade accessories and even some retro and vintage clothes, in case you’re going too, don’t hesitate  to say Hello (she’s a very nice person, I’m the only one that bites in our family).

This is not the first time Yvan Rodic came to Romania, in 2008 he was invited to the anniversary edition of My Grandma's Backyard (the first vintage and self made fair in Romania) organized by the lovely Gabriela Maria Vlad.

I’m a very charitable soul and I found these photos of Yvan so that you know  who to look for in case you’re prepared for fame). When you see this guy just casually act like a drama queen in his proximity and you’ll probably end up on The Face Hunter.

That being said I think it's only appropriate for me to show you the best pictures and looks from The Face Hunter through time. And when I say the best I actually mean the ones I found most inspiring since 2006 when he started this now famous street style blog. And yes, I do have a folder named The Face Hunter on my computer where I stored the pictures I liked the most from this site beginning with 2006. Other than that I’m completely normal.
Mai jos aveti varianta in romana a articolului!
