Home decor – the spring look

If you’re a lover of this season like me than you probably want your home to look like spring all year long.

Besides being extremely beautiful a “spring” themed space is also an excellent mood lifter. The great thing about home decor is that you can actually achieve that – your house can be that warm, solar refuge against everything stressful and unpleasant.

Here are some small tips I can give you if you’re into spring-ing things up:
  • Don’t be shy about adding lots of plants and flowers everywhere; they give a fresh and cheerful vibe to any room
  • A pastel and white color scheme is just what you’re looking for. I find aqua blues, soft greens and yellows to be amazing colors for such an endeavor. When it comes to walls - white will surely brighten things up – I would also use pastels for trims, doors, furniture, even one of the walls (as a joyful accent).
  • Pretty floral or gingham prints for pillows, chairs, curtains (even the wallpaper) will complete the spring look
  • We’re going for a clean, light and refreshing space so I would suggest getting rid of any furniture that’s not really necessary and just clutters the space.
How beautiful is this bedroom? I adore the blue wood wall and the painting on it - the white tree with small, colorful birds!
How about a yellow and white gingham print chair?! Yes please!
Floral touches and shades of green! How warm and relaxing!
An airy white blanket and a pink roses near the bed - so lovely!
Turquoise cupboards, flowers and yellow walls in the kitchen!
Is a spring look something you'd go for in your house?

Superheroes and tuxedo jackets

One of the many perks of spring is that I can wear sunglasses again. I do happen to love them and have an extensive collection so I’m excited – the little things in life!

Another thing I’m really into are superheroes as you might have guessed from my tee (courtesy of Tshirt Factory). And how else can you wear it but under a light tuxedo style jacket?! You have to honor the superhero, can’t just wear plain old jeans with it, right? Or I guess you can but I’m more of a skirt/dress kind of girl!

  I’m wearing:
shoes/ pantofi - BB Up
jacket/ sacou - MiniPrix
Bracelets, Ear cuff /bratari, cercel - H&M
 skirt/fusta – vintage
custom tee/ tricou - Tshirt Factory
Sunglasses/ochelari - New Yorker

Shoe history in the making: Prada spring 2012

I meant to talk about Prada‘s car inspired shoes collection for spring 2012 for ages but they are so cool I actually had to take some time to process the amount of awesomeness involved before anything else.

We’re talking about shoes channeling the classic American race cars that were super popular in the 50’s, especially the legendary Cadillac!

I find them fun, fresh and quite original, so very different from every other shoe on the catwalk right now – this is certainly one of the most unique shoes collections I have ever seen in recent years.
I’m sure they are going to reach an iconic status in fashion history.

The line includes pumps and sandals with sky high heels and bullet-shaped tail lights and wedges with exhaust-pipe flames shooting out the back.
Much like the classic hot roads these amazing shoes feature spoilers, wings, chrome-lined tail lights, flames that go up the ankle and some of them are even finished with car paint in order to achieve an authentic shine.

How snazzy, right?
The only thing is they are retailing for a whopping 1000-1400$ depending on the model so you might actually have to sell you car to buy a pair. The crazy thing is this might be a good investment in the long run.

I've made this little collage to show the inspiration and the shoes!
Actually a custom pink or mint convertible Cadillac Coupe De Ville is basically my dream car! I would love to drive one! Such a stunning car or swagger mobile as I call it!:)))) I can just see myself rolling like a total boss in one of these!

Being hot is like having a super power

So, here's some serious hotness to help you get through the day. These three perfect looking guys have been in my permanent dream rotation for a very long time! Good thing I don’t mind sharing!:)))

Ryan Gosling! I can't  believe I didn't see Drive yet!
Charlie Hunnam - Besides being painfully hot he's also a great actor - don't miss Sons of Anarchy - an amazing yet surprisingly under the radar TV show.
Michael Fassbender - no words are necessary!
 Enough said! Enjoy!

TV’s Golden Age – The Walking Dead

Ok, so I have a new TV show obsession!
I know! What a shocker that is - you would have never guessed that about me!
It’s not actually new, I’ve been watching The Walking Dead for more than a year now. Meanwhile this show has reached huge popularity and just recently became the most-watched basic cable drama in history with 9 million viewers for its season two finale.

Before going forward I have to confess something – one of my biggest guilty pleasures are horror movies but what I’m really into are the end of the world, apocalyptic and post apocalyptic type scenarios. I’ve seen them all and I’m always looking for new ones or old, obscure titles I’ve never checked out before.

I do find it a little bit creepy that I feel so good watching them – I think is the reassuring feeling I’m safe while all the horror goes on (or so I say to myself)!!! I also force my sister to watch them with me because I’m afraid otherwise (she secretly loves them too).

If you thought we were pretty normal up until now, just know we actually discus strategy and how we would act in similar situations and what a huge assets we would be in a zombie crises  - I’m pretty sure we wouldn’t make it more than 10 minutes, but hey, one can dream (or have nightmares in this case:)))).

Getting back to The Walking Dead – if you didn’t see it until now, well, the title is pretty much self explanatory.
Still, don’t write this off because you’d miss a great show that uses the post apocalyptic background of a planet populated with the undead as a result of a mysterious infection (a story that has been told a thousand times before)  to analyze and reveal so much more.
The Walking Dead is based on the comic book series with the same name written by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard and it is focused on a small group of people that try to survive and find a safe haven away from the monstrous hoards of hungry walkers, on how they deal with the hopelessness of it all, how they interact, the moral conflicts, the daily battles to keep themselves alive.

Of course there are a lot of gruesome and action-packed scenes and there is a lot of tension and suspense that’s basically the rhythm of this genre.
But the truth strength of The Walking Dead and every other great TV show out there is actually the amazing characters and the actors that embody them – and this show has striking, polarized characters that you’ll feel very strong about (I’m personally a big fan of Daryl, Rick, Dale and Glenn and kind of hate Lori and Carl).

I guess the backbone of The Walking Dead is the struggle of the group to function and grab on their humanity in a world with no rules and hope.

Spoiler alert: do not read if you didn’t watch the last episodes of season two or just hate spoilers (I know I do):
  • How cool was the scene with the unknown hooded ninja warrior with the two chained walkers at its back saving Andrea? I hated the bitch before but her running through the woods chased by the undead and being a total bad ass made me have a small change of heart. And yes, I know who the mysterious hooded sword loving character was – I’m super excited to see Michonne played by Danai Gurira in Season 3. And in case you were wondering who the chained, armless, jawless walkers were, well, I read they are her boyfriend and his best friend. How creepy is that?! The thing is - I’m a bit worried about how well she’s mixing into the story – she is so far away from being normal while the rest of the cast is pretty believable (and that’s the great thing about this show). I hope the writers somehow dial down the intensity of Michonne from the comics and make the personage seem real. I would hate for this great show to be transformed into something mediocre and cliche.
  • Why did they have to kill Dale? I always thought he was their moral compass, the voice of reason and humanity! I loved him so much! He was always helping the group not cross that line (although it is the end of days and so many lines HAVE to be crossed)!
  • And speaking of crossing the line and what some people are capable of doing to survive - I knew Shane had to go as soon as he killed Otis – still I enjoyed the character - kept me on the edge of my chair. I'll miss him and his crazy ways!
  • I loved Rick’s new found balls and his “This is not a democracy anymore” speech and the last scene with that Alcatraz looking buildings surrounded by walls. Is that going to be their safe heaven or another pipe dream? Can’t wait to see more this coming fall!

Swagger Diaries

One thing I’m crazy about right now is this new jacket! I find it badass with all the mixed fabrics and fitted shape; I love the leather peeking out at the bottom, all the zippers and the fur collar. I though it looked great over my Swagger tee with the picture of Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire dancing that the guys over at the Tshirt Factory printed for me. The back is marked Pop Culture&Fashion Magic because I’m obviously a slave of this blog :))).

The weather is coming around and I couldn’t be happier – no more freezing for the sake of pictures! Wearing heels is now possible and I was finally able to wear my new pair of shoes - I bought them for a quarter of the original price. Scored!!!

I’m what you call a bargain hunter – it just feels so right to find something beautiful looking but cheep as far as the price tag goes. I think anybody can dress nicely spending a lot of money and I admire people that look fabulous without spending a fortune. It’s what I try to do! It just feels stupid to spend all my pay check on two dresses and a pair of shoes! That’s so not me! Instead I like to travel, go see movies, buy books, pay my rent - you know, stuff like that! Besides I like a challenge now and again:))))).

 I’m wearing:
shoes/ pantofi - New Look
jacket/ geaca - random brand
necklaces/ coliere - H&M and Forever 21
 skirt/fusta – vintage
custom tee/ tricou - Tshirt Factory
