The Vanity Table

If I stop to think about how many things I want in my dream house I end up realizing it should be as large as castle, but somewhere central, if you know what I mean. Cause if we are to dream, let’s at least dream big!

Besides alcove beds, a round stair library, breakfast nooks, indoor swings, colorful walls, decadent chandeliers hanging everywhere I’m really, really obsessed with having a vanity table.
I bet that’s really shocking coming from a fashion blogger, the more modest of the human beings, known for being shy and reserved, not so keen on attention!:)))

And I’m not talking about a table with a small mirror and a chair, I’m thinking of a grand, indulging, slightly excessive, preferably vintage vanity table.
Yes, I’m basically describing a shrine, but less creepy because instead of photos with Charlie Hunnam, love potions and candles we’re just talking about bottles of perfume, make up and scattered jewelry. Inoffensive stuff!

Something to make you feel like Old Hollywood royalty – a bit of an altar for you narcissistic side! :))) When it comes to vanity tables I’m thinking what would Rita Heyworth, Ava Gardner or Elisabeth Taylor do? Maybe I should consider a powder room - a vanity mirror seems suddenly insufficient!
I have no budget to worry about - dreaming is for free so! :)))

Here you have some visuals in case I’m not painting a picture vivid enough!

The soft blue and gold mix in this vintage vanity tables gives an aristocratic vibe I very much approve of!
The appropriate amount of girly things a vanity mirror should be covered in!
Absolutely stunning vintage vanity mirrors with elaborate details!
The flying, angel wings teddy bear could be a bit much - who am I kidding? I'm feeling it, I need one just like that!
Now we're talking - a vase bearing Cupid it's a must on this exquisite, blue, vintage vanity table! You just have to have at least one!
How about some vintage French style cream and gold vanity tables? Yes, please!

Do you feel your life is complete without one of these? Really? Think about it!

Mint, yellow and blue mood

As summer is taken over I'm really into a mix of soft mints and blues with neon shades of yellow or green. I feel this color combo looks really fresh and light! I also love the optimistic vibe it gives!

Here are some dream outfits I made using the above talked color scheme. I hope you love them as much as I do!

Do you like any of the items I used in my  fashion collages?

Pleated honey and liquid lace

Summer has taken over Bucharest and I’m feeling it! I’m actually excited for all the promises, adventures and fun summer nights with friends that I’m hoping for. And talking about friends – Anna is one of those everybody should have at least one.

Just a few days ago we went to see The Avengers and, as luck had it, we were completely alone in a huge cinema hall. It was a blast – the level of hotness in this movie is out of charts (ovaries explosion fest) so we were able to talk, comment, laugh - no filter needed - as laud as we wanted without anybody bitch slapping us.

It felt like they had a private screening just for the two of us - or they just knew we are not able to behave in the presence of Thor, Loki, Captain America and Hawkeye and decided to save us the embarrassment:))). We did have a blast!

As far as my outfit goes I went for a solar look with my yellow pleated skirt and a see-through lace blouse. I’m also wearing a cool heart covered bag that I like a lot: the mix of colors and fabrics with the gold hardware and the fact that it’s huge equals perfection for me.
And in case you missed it because I’m so very subtle in this department – I have shitloads of jewelry on. :))))

Anna - looking all kinds of beautiful! And she's also wearing a heart covert something - in fact I have the same skirt (great minds do think alike)!
I don't know why I'm giving you the evil eye here! :)
  I’m wearing:
shoes / pantofi - random brand
bag / geanta - random brand
 necklace, bracelets / colier, bratari - H&M
skirt/fusta - Dorothy Perkins
lace blouse / bluza de dantela - thrifted
sunglasses / ochelari  - romwe

Artwork/Illustration Spotlight - Belinda Chen

Belinda Chen is a 24 years old freelance illustrator, visual designer and print-maker who has graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London.

After having lived in Melbourne and Berlin for a while she now resides in Shanghai. Belinda creates amazing drawings and collages in mixed media style and she loves character design and narrative story telling.

Flamingo Sands - my absolute favorite illustration by Belinda Chen

Here are some of my other favorite pieces form Belinda’s expanding portfolio:

I find Belinda has a very unique and imaginative style and I appreciate her confidence in trying different things when it comes to her art while also being true to herself!

I absolutely love her play with outlines and the fantastic pops of color against white backgrounds. This technique makes her fashion illustrations look effortless, elegant and truly inspirational.
No wonder her work has been featured in numerous magazines such as Nylon, N*Style, Madison, SOKO and Gloss Creative.

I also found this interesting presentation/interview of Belinda’s on touchnote that I feel gives us a little more insight into her creative world:
I guess I enjoyed drawing a lot and I love seeing people enjoy my work.
Who's my favorite artist? Frida Kahlo, she is amazing! I love the colors, passion and story. I also love surrealist stuff involving space and dreams.
I am very much into Pop Art, such as Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol. I love the fun aspect of their work and the bright colors they use. I also like retro images and photos.
I love the detail and delicate lines in Wenzel Hablik crystal and geological inspired etchings. I find lines fascinating; lines in children’s drawings, lines in nature, lines created by fireworks, etc.
Piccolo Degree Apartments - amazing lift lobby graphics
I hope you enjoy these as much as I do! How do you feel about her work?

Neon Splash

This outfit marks one of the most embarrassing days I had in a long time! Good thing I didn’t really know until I got home so it wasn’t that bad.

The thing is this was the first (and last) time I wore the black dress pictured below – and it was at work of all places. I felt pretty good leaving my home in the morning in this get up and I thought that all the looks I got from everybody at my job were because I was looking particularly hot. I don’t know why, but I always suppose that I’m looking really good when somebody looks at me insistently when in fact I have something plastered all over my face or a ridiculous thing like that:)))).

But when I got back home my sister solved the mystery (after rolling on the floor laughing) - the back of my dress was pretty see through – I guess that it got that way from all the sitting down or something cause I’m sure it wasn’t like that when I left! Thank God I was wearing black underwear so at least it looked good – a real fashion statement I might say! You’re welcome, guys, but never again!

Other than that I still feel the blue blazer, red thin belt and the neon green flats were complimenting the black dress and making it cool.

The stag necklace is something I made using scraps of a ring that I somehow succeeded in broking. I’m always “redesigning” the jewelry I destroy! Some even end up looking better than the original piece.

I’m wearing:
dress/rochie - H&M
blazer, sunglasses/sacou, ochelari - random brand
flats/balerini - New Yorker
rings/inele - Meli Melo and New Look
necklaces/coliere - DIY (made by me)

Style focus – Vesper Lynd

Vesper Lynd: “I’m afraid I’m a complicated woman.”
James Bond: “That is something to be afraid of.”

I find some movies and particular movie characters to be extremely inspirational style wise. And the funny thing is that the clothes they wear are not always the main reason – is the way an actor gets himself into that part, the way he walks, talks and makes you feel – all these little things, plus the visual appeal make a character unforgettable.

While Casino Royale is one of my favorite casino movies, Vesper Lynd is definitely the coolest modern Bond girl. And I’m talking about the 2006 version of Ian Fleming’s book in which Eva Green portrays maybe the only complex and relatable woman in the Bond series.
While always being a symbol of beauty and sophistication they are most of the time just eye candy, crazy villains and nothing else.

But Vesper is different – she is one of only two Bond Girls who James Bond falls totally in love with and for whom he’s ready to leave everything behind.
Vesper is extremely smart and independent, drop-dead gorgeous and passionate! She’s not afraid to say no and speaks her mind, she just gets under his skin - she’s one of a kind in the series!

Style wise she’s effortlessly classy and very sexy but in a very subtle and feminine way. Who can ever forget the black dress with the amazing, plunging neckline or the purple, backless number she wore in the casino scenes?
I’m also a big fan of the red dress she has on in the last minutes of the movie – it looks striking against Eva’s pale complexion and black hair. And how about the flawless make up with bright, red lips and that polished retro hairdo?  I personally love it and it looks stunning on Eva Green!

Every time I go to fancy events I think about Vesper Lynd and her amazing style! Who doesn’t want to be that girl at the party, you know, the one everybody is looking at?!

Peplum Leather Jacket

If I had to choose only three items that I could wear for the rest of my life a leather jacket would certainly make the cut. Leather jackets are a staple in my wardrobe and I can never have too many of them!
My latest addition to a growing collection is this beautiful, nude numbe.

I’m kind of obsessed with it: the little ruffles at the bottom that create a peplum effect go so great with the short zipper and the soft color - a nice balance of feminine and rock and roll that I’m really into.
And that called for a lady like with a bit of an edge outfit – hence the silk animal print top worn with a high waisted vintage skirt, strappy sandals and bright lips!

The lace printed sunglasses were a last minute addition don’t really need them for yet another day at the office, but they come in handy and look cool for an after work stroll.

 I’m wearing:
dress, skirt / rochie, fusta - vintage
jacket/ geaca piele - random brand
shoes/ pantofi - H&M
rings/inele - Miss Selfridge
earrings/ cercei - Koton
